Make a monthly habit of reminding elected officials of harms being suffered by our community, include personal stories.  These airport benefactors are in their ear constantly for more, yet they don't hear from us. Write to your Congressman, Senators, City and County Officials and the Transportation Boards, including locally The City of Bend, City of Redmond, City of Sisters, Sunriver and Deschutes County Commissioners. Request they:

Protect our Farms, Wildlife and Communities from Exceedingly Harmful Aviation Activities, especially Noise, Leaded Pollution and heavy culling of wildlife and habitats.

Get the Lead Out. Unleaded Drop In Fuel is Available, Yet They Continue a Profit Over People Model while Allowing Literal Tons of Ultrafine Leaded Particulates to be Rained Down on us while allowing ever more unlivable decibels to be blasted into our homes, schools, parks, resorts, rivers, lakes, forests, deserts and lives.

Bend Municipal is a top lead polluting airport in the state and one of the top out of approx 20,000 airports across the country. Phase out leaded fuel now. Note: Reid Hillview phased out lead in days, this does not take years, i.e. until 2030.

 

Bend and Redmond airports are exactly 10 miles apart, runway to runway. Continual expansion of activities at Bend Municipal is inappropriate, unnecessary, redundant, toxic and a violation of land uses and constitutional protections.

Bend Municipal Airport and airports in general are not outright compatible with EFU as evidenced in court rulings at Hillsboro and Aurora, who use the same consultants as Bend Municipal Airport. Findings have been upheld by the highest courts.

We need a cumulative impact analysis and protection from unnecessary air and road pollutants from these airport activities, which benefit only a fraction of a percent, many non locals, while costing all.

The Citys' and County should honor their commitment to reduce emissions and aim for equitable communities. Airport environmental degradation and pollutant load must be added to their tracking of pollutant totals. They committed to track and reduced pollutants and environmentally destructive activities, yet exclude the HUGE load totals of more than 30 airports and airstrips across a 40x70 mile area in Central Oregon. Many Central Oregon airports are redundant, highly adversely impactful and are unjustifiable trespassing and takings.

Our wildlife and region needs clean air, places of quiet and protection from mass air pollutants which is all harmed by this excess of unnecessary flight activity.

To create a connecting point for a community of concerned and/or suffering citizens to learn, get involved and see what other communities are doing.
Create a space to compile the harms of Bend Municipal Airport and other regional airport development.
Raise awareness, advocate for just protections and community inclusion in roundtables.
Take meaningful action together.
Elevate our voices to demand prioritization of ground side citizen, community, environment and wildlife health.

LACK OF TRANSPARENCY AND INFORMATION

The parameters for 'community inclusion' are often only a few hundred feet from airport, while severe impacts can go miles.
Intentionally misleading and confusing process adds to great suffering. Those who've an agenda are not forthcoming with process or  information.

What is the actual graduation rate?

Do they receive 100% funding with a >75% drop out rate?

What is that airport and education cost to the public?

REGAIN POWER & PROTECTIONS

It is unacceptable for community members to be helplessly subjected to non essential and unnecessary aviation activity, without representation or mitigation of harms. Central Oregon citizens are not being made aware of how this will impact them, nor are they brought to the table while suffering health, freedom and property value losses.

According to the FAA's airman statistics, less than 5% of General Aviation is for essential and critical services.

It is unacceptable for citizens to be subjected to so much air pollution and noise and in some cases harassment and torturous unnecessary flight activity. 

It is unAmerican to allow a group of individuals to destroy lives and chase people from their homes, farms, dreams, investments, etc...

ENVIRONMENTAL DEGREDATION AND UNSUSTAINABILITY

Removal of farmland, trees, birds, educational environments, clean air and health remain unaddressed and unprotected, while in an ecological disaster and all species emergency spirals out of control.

Billions of gallons of leaded fossil fuel burned annually for unnecessary flight and flight training for a flooded pilot market.

How can all this increased aviation activity always equal a FONSI (Finding of No Significant Impact)?

People Policy & Planning

INDUSTRY CIRCULAR FUNDING

From campaign finance, to flight favors.
From DOD to first responders.
From culling to wildlife assistance.
From ecological destruction to firefighting.
There is a quantifiable lack of oversight, enforcement or motive to do no harm.
There MUST be separation of duties and controls

The Elect, Law Enforcement & FAA must work together to set clear standards and enforcement regarding Pilot Behavior while prioritizing ground side community protections.

We also need more robust separation of duty between these agencies.

We must have real transparency and inclusion from elected officials, airport, FAA and decision makers.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity

We advocate for our human and constitutional rights to clean air and to feel safe inside and outside our homes.
